Survey Information Management System

SRA's SIMS (Survey Information Management System) is a custom software suite developed to improve survey reporting and documentation. Combined with SRA's state-of-the-art product lines, SIMS results in faster, more accurate radiological reporting. Currently, SIMS is composed of three modules: Stitcher, Visuspect, and Stracker.

Stitcher

Stitcher is a software utility used to assemble smaller pieces of survey data into one large set of data. Survey equipment runs in long individual strips across a surface, and Stitcher is used to assemble those separate pieces of data into one large spatially correlated set which can then be post-processed as a whole.

Visuspect

Visuspect is the heart of SIMS, providing all post-processing functionality. It contains many tools used to analyze survey data, filters to view the data in different ways, and advanced reporting functionality that can be customized to match the needs of a particular project or situation. It also has a built in utility called "Quilter" that can assemble individual survey units into a much larger picture, such as the entire building. In addition, Visuspect can export data used for CAD or map overlays.

Stracker

To meet the needs of a large-scale D&D project, Stracker was developed as a tool to track the flow of survey information, from the moment the data was taken until the end of the project. To track the status of tens of thousands of individual surveys as they changed hands between different departments, we employed use of Microsoft's SQL Server to have a transactional database capable of viewing the exact status of a survey at a moment's notice. This also provided for an easy way to report on the status of an entire large survey, with percents complete and efficiency information.
