Millennium Services Acquires SCM/SIMS
Woodstock, GA, September 20, 2007- Millennium Services, Inc. (MSI) proudly announces it has acquired the state-of-the-art Surface Contamination Monitor and associated Survey Information Management System (SCM/SIMS) technology from Shonka Research Associates, Inc. (SRA). This patented survey technology was developed by Dr. Joseph Shonka, and has been used extensively by Millennium Services in support of numerous D&D projects and site investigations across the country including, Rocky Flats, Fernald, and the ETTP 3-Building Project (K-33, K-31, and K-29) in Oak Ridge. “We have a great deal of experience with SCM/SIMS and are excited to assume ownership of this innovative and versatile technology,” said Millennium Services president Rick Titolo. The SCM/SIMS is widely recognized throughout the nuclear industry for its superior production rate while satisfying the Data Quality Objectives of characterization and final status surveys. The cost effective system eliminates many of the errors associated with handheld surveys while providing a thirty five fold increase in production rate; and, the comprehensive survey documentation provided is unequalled in the industry. Use of this technology has been shown to result in cost and schedule savings, while meeting or exceeding both site-specific and statutory performance criteria and minimizing the risk of future liability.
“SRA is excited to have MSI assume the rights to the SCM. MSI has had a long and successful association with the SCM, making them uniquely qualified to continue to advance the technology and promulgate it to the marketplace. SRA is confident the SCM technology will continue to evolve under MSI’s stewardship, further enhancing its unmatched abilities and market presence,” said SRA president Debby Shonka.
