Los Alamos Historical Document Retrieval and Assessment Project
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contracted with ENSR & SRA to identify and evaluate certain documents related to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). These documents will support an independent characterization of historical releases of materials from the Laboratory that had the potential to pose off-site health hazards. CDC's goal is to review all historical documents related to LANL operations and identify records that contribute information about releases of chemicals and radionuclides from the site between 1943 and the present.
The end products from this project will be a summary of historical operations, a listing and ranking of materials released off site, a bibliographic database of documents and interviews relevant to those releases, and copies of those documents determined to be most useful. This project was begun in December of 1998.
