U.S. Ecology, Molten Metal Technology Site

Shonka Research Associates (SRA) provided radiological survey services in support of the decontamination and decommissioning of the Molten Metal Technology Site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. These surveys were performed utilizing the state-of-the-art Surface Contamination Monitor/Survey Information Management System (SCM/SIMS) developed by SRA. The surveys were performed as part of the Final Status Survey to free release the facility, and also served to identify areas requiring remediation (if any), and following remediation, to demonstrate that the areas met the release criteria found in Regulatory Guide 1.86.
