Mound/CH2M Hill
Support of T Building, Sewage Plant, and PRS 70 Area
June 2005 - May 2006
CH2M Hill- Mound contracted with SRA to conduct Final Status Surveys of the T-Building, Sewage Plant and PRS 70 areas at the Mound Facility. The SCM was operated by both SRA trained staff as well as CH2M Hill technicians under the supervision of SRA's staff. The SCM successfully completed over 400 surveys covering over 10,000 m^2 on the interior and exterior surfaces of T-Building. Separate surveys were performed in each area to resolve alpha and beta contamination above 300 and 15000 dpm/100cm2, respectively. The SCM was used in both static and rolling mode (with a recount detector) which met the MDC requirements in the underground lab's Radon rich environment. Over 2000 square meters were covered in the both the Sewage Plant (roughly 15 underground process tanks) and PRS 70 (holding pond spillway and support structures). The SCM was used in static mode due to the irregular and confined spaces in the survey areas. The SCM's speed, quality control and data management (SIMS) provided CH2M Hill significant schedule and cost relief.
