LaSalle Station
November 2002
SRA was asked to perform a radiation survey of the 160 acres of farmland adjacent to the LaSalle Station in support of the sale of this land. The survey utilized a complement of four sodium iodide radiation detectors mounted in a four-wheel drive truck, operated as energy spectrometer. The contaminants of concern were Cs-137 and Co-160. Approximately 15 acres were surveyed. The detection limits that were attained were more than a factor of ten below the selected US NRC default value of these two radionuclides (i.e. 11 pCi/g for Cs-137 and 3.8 pCi/g for Co-60).
